THE BOOK ARTS JAM OCTOBER 18, 2008!

Bay Area Book Artists and Foothill College Bay Area Book Artists and Foothill College Announce the Book Arts Jam 2008 A Celebration of Original Artists Books, Zines and Book-Related Arts.

Saturday, October 18, 2008 - 10am to 4pm

WHAT IS THE BOOK ARTS JAM?

A one-day celebration at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California (in the heart of Silicon Valley) that includes an Exhibitors Showcase, a book arts exhibit, demonstrations by book artists and craftspeople, and a slide show/CD that showcases the work of book artists throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. October 18, 2008 will be the 7th Annual Book Arts Jam. Last year over 700 visitors came to the Jam, enjoyed the work of more than 50 exhibitors, participated in related activities, and became captivated with the book arts.

The event is free. Day use parking permits are $2.

An important part of this one-day festival includes public demonstrations by artists and artisans of variety of book arts skills--including craft binding and book finishing, calligraphy, printmaking, letterpress printing, and more. Attendees will join us for a "behind-the-scenes" look at the creative processes, tools, and techniques that are used by book artists. The jam will encourage visitors to learn, explore and create through demonstrations, hands-on projects, and displays. The Book Arts Jam is sponsored by Bay Area Book Artists and Foothill College, and funded in part by a grant from Arts Council Silicon Valley, in partnership with the County of Santa Clara and the National Endowment for the Arts.
